CoMC Lesson 3

The grounds in front of the old keykeeper's hut were all dug up. There was a fence around the dug up area and a large cage was outside the fence. In that cage, there were some odd, black, long-snouted creatures and next to the cage, there was a darkhaired witch. Mary wasn't wearing any jewellery, it was all in a bag in a box, which was located near her. She kneeled down and petted one of the long-snouted creatures and the beast snuggled against her hand.

As she heard voices, she stood back up and as the students came into the hearing range, she yelled
"Hello! Can you please remove all your jewellery and all your gold and put it in a bag and into that box. I promise you'll get it back at the end of class." the witch pointed at the box, grinning.

Pat walked down to the classroom and wondered what they would be studying that day. Behind him, Audrey and the hufflepuff boy she was with last class chatted away. Pam was walking beside him. None of them ever wore jewelry.

"What are those?" Audrey asked.

"I haven't a clue," the hufflepuff boy said back.

Julie heard Professor McNeely's yell and yanked her necklace off over her head and unclasped her watch, sticking them in her purse. "Morning Prof," she said cheerfully as she deposited the purse and stepped back, eyeing the ground with marked interest.

Jay, as always, was excited with his CoMC class, so he was approaching the hut when he heard professor McNeely's voice. With a smile he took off his watch and his neck chain leaving them on the box, smiling at the professor.

"Good morning" he greeted politely.

Gwen was standing slightly behind Jay and held his hand before taking off her locket and putting it in the bag quickly moving back behind Jay.
The salamander incident wasn´t going to leave her mind very soon.

'What the..?!' Indiana thought to himself as he headed down to the grounds where the class was taking place, noting the long-nosed creatures within the large cage. He heard Professor McNeely instructing the class to place their accessory gold and jewelry into a bag and into a box before wondering if the unknown creatures had some sort of tendency to go after such articles.

Nonetheless, once he arrived, Indiana waited for class to start.

Mary smiled brightly as her students put their jewellery away and even though it wasn't the whole class yet, she was eager to start the lesson.
"Hello all! Can anyone tell me what these lovely creatures are and something about them? One fact per a student, please." the witch said, pointing at the cage with the long snouted black beasts inside.

Patrick raised his hand.

"Nifflers aren't they? They're attracted to shiny things," he said.

As was he, but that was a horse of a different color.

Casey ran down to Hagrids Hut. She got there just as the professor started talking. She saw people taking off there jewlry. Good thing I never wear any, she thought. She listened as on kid said that the animals in fron to of them were nifflers.

Isabella ran into the class. "Am I late?" She asked hurriedly, and put her stuff down. She followed the teacher's directions and listened to a sixth year Hufflepuff talk about the creatures. "Nifflers? Oh, I read about them! They're really friendly, cuddly, and can dig through a lot." She smiled, but then a worried expression entered her face. "Wait... Did that count as more than one fact? Oops." She grimaced.
