CoMC Lesson 2

Patrick walked down to the classroom, a little chilled by the cold. Surprised that he was the first one, he smiled at the professor and stood a little close to the fire. Merlin was it cold!

Isabella walked into the lesson with a Muggle winter coat over her Ravenclaw uniform. "Good day, Professor McNeely." She nodded towards her, and chose a spot closer to the fire. Removing her jacket, and placing it aside, she realized she was quite warm. "It's actually a lot warmer than I thought it would be!" She said to herself. Leaning towards the fire, she saw something moving. Scared, she jumped back. "Professor?" She called, "There's something IN there!"

Julie ambled down the hill, swathed in coats; she was cold. Spotting a large bonfire where her class would normally be, she grinned, relieved. Salamanders! She loved this class.

Blaine entered the class smiling at the professor. He loved animals.
Stepping closer to the fire he saw creatures,
Salamanders...wicked.

Alli made the short trip from the castle down to where her CoMC class was usually held. Although when she actually glanced up to see where she was going, the gigantic bonfire near the Caretaker's Hut caught her eyes. She blinked in surprise, but was glad she'd bundled up. Looked like their lesson today was going to be outside.

Slipping her gloved hands a bit further into the pockets of her jacket, she wandered the rest of the way to where some of her other classmates were already standing. She gave a quick smile of greeting to the Professor, before placing herself next to Pat as she looked into the fire. This should be an interesting lesson.

Jay headed to his favourite class. It was really cold, but he didn't mind to be outside when the class was about creatures. For his happiness, professor McNeely had a nice and warm fire there so when he arrived he smiled, greeting at the professor and his classmates with a nod.

After a while he noticed that there were creatures in the fire and he smirked. That class would be interesting.

Noticing the fire up ahead, Indiana approached before noticing that there were reptilian creatures in the flames. Fire Salamanders. There was no doubt on what he was seeing unless he was incorrect on the assessment.

The youth calmly stopped after arriving for the class and decided to wait for the lesson to start.

Isabella saw Indi in the classroom and walked up to him. "Hey. Do you know what's in the fire?" She pointed in the direction of the flames. "It's moving." Reptilian-like creatures jumped, slithered, and basically lived in the fire. Isabella shivered. "Those things creep me out."

Indiana looked up to see Isabella and heard her question before seeing her point at the fire.

"Those are salamanders of the magical kind. I've gotten used to calling them Fire Salamanders." the youth answered. "They bask in the flames that they were born from and normally can't survive without them. The exception would be if they're fed pepper, allowing them to live outside of the flames for up to six hours at best."

Casey ran down the steps and towards Hagrids hut. It was freezing. She hadnt time to grab a coat so she was shivering. As she neared the hut she saw a fire. Either its for us to be warm or we are doing somehing with salamanders she thought. As she walked over she saw Isabella. "Hey Isabella," she said. Then she looked toward the fire. Salamanders, just great, she thought. At least we will be warm.

Audrey and Robert walked down to the classroom, all bundled up and freezing. They couldn't believe that someone would want to hold class in this weather. They were relieved when they saw a fire and went up to it.

"Whoa!" Audrey cried.

"What?" Robert asked and then saw the creatures. "Don't worry Audrey. They're just salamanders."

Pam ran to the class, mainly to keep her body from freezing. She went straight for the fire and stood next to her brother.

"Merlin, it's freezing," she muttered.

Julie grinned and raised her hand. "Well, they live in fire, but as Indiana said, they can survive outside of one if they are fed the right things and treated with care - rather like axolotls. They're almost like reverse amphibians, with fire instead of water," Julie paused, unsure of what to add, and decided to throw in the bit she had read somewhere in. "I also read somewhere that if their fire of origin goes out they'll die," she said with a shrug, "but I'm not sure if that's right or just hearsay."

Gwen ran to the group,
"And they are really really hot." she added weakly in hopes to atleast attempt to redeem herself for being late.
Grinning at J she stod next to him.

Isabella smiled at Indi, embarrassed. "Seems i'm the only clueless one here." She muttered to herself quietly. Casey greeted her,"Hey Isabella." Isabella grinned, "Casey!" She whisper-yelled. "You take CoMC? Cool!" Then she listened as her other classmates explained the salamanders. She laughed when another girl added, "And they're really really hot," as an attempt to redeem herself for her lack of punctuality. "Yeah," She agreed with the girl. "Probably comes with living in fire."

"You take CoMC? Cool!" Isabella said. Casey laughed softly. "Yea, I do. I was here for the first class. You talked to me last class." she whispered back. She listened to the teacher as she explained about the salamanders. Casey stood there hudling. She inched a little closer to the fire. She hoped the salamanders wouldnt hurt her.

Isabella blushed. "Oops. My brain doesn't seem to function today... Haha." Turning to the fire, she wondered, "So... now we know what these things do. What now?" She went a little closer to the fire, but it started sparking so she took a large step back. "Guess i'll just freezey butt off, then."

Patrick put on a pair of gloves that the professor had motioned to and took out his wand.

"Accio salamander!" he said and one came flying to him. He caught it in his hands but then realized that he didn't know where the pepper was.

"Ah, there it is," he said and reached over and fed the annoying thing pepper. Pam was doing the same off to his right while Audrey and a Hufflepuff boy he remembered seeing around the common room were paired off in the distance.

"Stay still," he muttered as he tried to sketch the creature.

Isabella walked to the table and grabbed the gloves. She put them on and reached for her wand. "Accio Salamander!" The firey, reptilian creature flew into her arms. She held on to it carefully... No need to strangle it, she thought. She held onto it with one hand, and with the other, she took out her sketchpad. "Good thing i'm a lefty," She muttered, and started to sketch the salamander.

Indiana looked at the fire before placing a pair of gloves and taking some pepper in his left hand. The youth then walked over to the blazing fire and took his wand out with his right hand. Approaching one of the fiery creatures, Indiana fed it some pepper, watching it devour the edible vegetables, before aiming his wand and chanted. "Locomotor!"

The salamander was rather oblivious to being directed out of the fire and placed on a patch of dirt on the ground as it was happily too busy chewing on the peppers in its mouth. Taking a quill and parchment out while putting his wand aside, Indiana quickly sketched the creature before placing the stationary aside. Taking his wand again, Indiana cast the Locomotor Charm non-verbally on the salamander before placing it back into the fire.

Casey summoned a pair of gloves, them a salamander. She caught it. Immeadietly her hands felt a little bit warmer. She walked over to the pepper and tried to figure out a way to draw her salamander while holding onto it. She placed a small pile of pepper on the table. Then she drew out some parchment and a quill. She then began to draw the salamander while holding the salamander. She saw a boy using the locomotor spell. Thinking she might try this. She placed the salamander on the ground with the pepper. When it tried to run. She muttered the locomotor spell and moved it back. It did this a few times but after a while it figured it out and she was able to start drawing.
